In addition to the Handbooks, we’ve been keeping busy this month preparing three excellent new products for launch: Starguy / PK Love track jackets and Pork Army shirts!
The Pork Army shirts, like all of our shirts, come with some sweet 1” pins you’ll recognize from the first pin set. The Track Jackets are both embroidered and come with painfully cool patches.
And, of course, we’re almost done shipping the Handbooks, so we’ll soon be catching up on orders from the past week! If you’ve placed an order recently (or are planning to place an order soon) we’ll be shipping your order sometime early next week.
With these new updates out of the way, Jon, Ryan, and Reid are going to get back to work on the MOTHER 3Handbook website, which we hope to launch in a week or two. In the meantime, please, spread the word about the Handbook and our other merchandise! We live and die by word of mouth from you guys, the fans.
A quick look at some of our upcoming merchandise:
- FaB Pins
- Patch Set #1
- Shirt reprints
- Gummie Plushies?
- Shark Punk Figurines?
In case you haven’t been reading anything else, or you haven’t gotten your tracking number in your email, the MOTHER 3 Handbook is now shipping!

Long time no update, but we’ve been keeping uber-busy with the MOTHER 3 Handbook which is currently being printed! A few quick facts/updates concerning the guide:
- The team has put thousands of hours of work into the book. Jon finished the design/layout work last week, and it’s a masterpiece.
- The Handbook source files are more than 10 gigs!
- The final page count is 240, with hundreds of illustrations and nearly 50 clay models.
- In a few days we’re flying out a handful of Fangamer/Starmen.Net folks from all over the US (and we’re even importing a Canuck) to get the books packed and shipped. We’ll be posting some pictures from the Packy Party this weekend!
- Barring any unexpected problems with the printing, the preorders should be shipped by the end of next week.
- We’re going to be posting the free online version sometime in April, after everyone has gotten their books in the mail. More on that later.
In other news, we’ve got another big batch of merchandise coming in a week or two, including:

- Pork Army t-shirts (these are going to be awesome)
- Embroidered “PK Love” and “Starguy” track jackets!
- New pins and magnets, maybe our first patch set?
More updates later this week!
So recently, I got addicted to Twitter. So I created a Fangamer Twitter account. Follow us on Twitter! @fangamer
Also, you can follow me (@ROFISH) and Reid (@reidman). Although it looks like Reid won’t be updating sometime soon, heh.
Also some news on the Mother 3 Handbook: We’re about to send it to the printer, so it’s exciting times for us. We also officially got an ISBN code! ISBN-10: 0615282024 ISBN-13: 9780615282022 As always I’ll make an empty promise to update more often!
Huge update time!
A few quick notes because it’s too late to do much elaborating:
- The Winter Pins are also available as magnets now
- The EE Bags will be shipping later this week, we’re still finalizing the embroidery
- We have a new part-time employee! Welcome Steve (Plo on the forum) who is currently learning the mailroom ropes :D
- Instead of an office, we bought some more shelving and a storage locker in an exceptionally Half-Life-2-ish facility full of concrete corridors and orange doors. Currently searching Craigslist for deals on HEV Suits…
Here’s a picture of Steve in his new environment:

If you notice, the Fangamer Store is missing something… special. All of our new merchandise are missing action shots. While pictures of our 2008 male model of the year are awesome, Reid just doesn’t have enough time to pack all of your orders AND model for them. But Fangamer is more than just us looking goofy wearing hoodies in Arizona, it’s about you doing goofy things too! So we are going to put your pictures up on the store!
All you have to do is take a picture of yourself wearing one of our shirts and merch and send it to the email address below. However, we’re only going to accept the most awesome of pictures, so follow this list of pro-tips:
- Shower and shave before modeling. If I can smell you over the internet, you are doing something very, very wrong.
- Go outside to pretty locations. Don’t take a lowlight picture of yourself in your room.
- Don’t add anything to your picture, it’s beautiful as it is. You’re more than free to do some touch ups, but don’t insert copyrighted elements like sprites or logos.
- Don’t have any copyrighted items or logos, because you’re showing off our merch, not their merch!
- Make sure we can clearly see the item. It’s no use putting a picture up where you can’t even see what’s on it!
- Have fun and smile!
If we accept your picture, you’ll get the Fanshots Badge!
It’s a very pretty red! There is no deadline, it’s an ongoing project. We need pictures for our new merch when they come up. If you have any questions, feel free to send a PM to ROFISH. Send your pictures to:

If you already have a Starmen.Net account, just login with the same username and password. You might realize that a lot of the forums are the same because they are! We made the decision of keeping the same General Discussion and such on the Fangamer Forums.
However with the release of the Chronometer shirts, we feel that we really needed a Chrono Trigger forum as well. So we made one! Feel free to discuss anything Chrono Trigger on there. The new forum’s only had a couple of hours of existence, but there’s already some great topics like “Favorite Music” and “Best Time Period”.
We’re open to suggestions on what’s the next game. Feel free to tell us in our new Fangamer Discussion Forum!
A quick note to let everyone know that we’ve got new ISNP shirts in stock at the Fangamer Store, and that we’ve also finally restocked on the Snow Wood Hoodies, which are again available in all sizes :D
We’ve also launched our first non-EarthBound piece of merchandise — the Chrono-Trigger-inspired Chronometer shirt (designed by Silver Streak)! I wanted to specifically point it out because we’ll be making a related announcement soon. ;)
If you’ve placed an order with us before (and checked the box for product/marketing updates), our first major coupon campaign should be in your inbox! If you don’t see it, check your spam filter, and if its not there, send me an email along with your previous order # (you have to place an order to get on the list) and I’ll get you hooked up :)
Happy Thanksgiving Day to all our fellow US nerds, and Happy Turducken Day to everyone — because no matter what country you’re from, Turducken is second only to Whabysharkle.
One final note: the Fangamer store has been a huge success, enough that I’ve officially begun working full-time on it. I can’t thank everyone enough for their willingness to support this insane business idea we came up with, and I hope you’ll continue to support us with orders, ideas, and comments :)
What follows is a longwinded post about Starmen.Net, Fangamer, the store, and where all three of them are going. This started out as a much more concise post but I wanted to explain why this is happening.
Forumly Foundation
The Fangamer Store is owned and operated by Fangamer, a company founded this year by myself and a handful of Starmen.Net staff/oldbies. Our goal is to rebuild Starmen.Net and then use the new site as a template for building communities around other great games. Unfortunately, to do that, we need money. Using Fangamer investment money, I paid myself and ROFISH while we spent the first half of the year designing and developing this forum software. There are still bugs (I’ll be getting to them eventually I promise), but we feel that this new forum is both a success and a solid foundation for the work which we’ll eventually begin doing on the site.
Unfortunately, development is expensive, so we had to stop coding once the money ran out (and ROFISH resumed college classes) and begin searching for a better way to generate money. You may remember that, a little less than a year ago, we tried putting ads up on the forum. It worked — the ads generated a couple hundred dollars of revenue — but it kinda sucked and wasn’t really ‘worth it’, so we left the ads behind after moving to the new forum. I won’t say definitively that they won’t return, but they’re not in the cards at the moment.

Lots of Fangamer Store news today as we’ve got several new items in stock, as well as some details on future plans!

I’m particularly fond of the EB Yourself Shirt because it’s a deep red shirt printed with a metallic silver ink. It looks great, and it’s an American Apparel shirt, which I prefer over bulkier, boxier shirts. Note that we’ve got womens cuts, too!
I’d like to draw attention to the merch forum topic I started called “On Fangamer and Expansion” in which I outline some of our reasoning/plans for expanding the scope of the merch in the Fangamer Store. Long story short, we’re looking to start producing merch for other games in addition to EarthBound, and would love to hear your thoughts.
Personally, I’m a big Chrono Trigger fan, and with the game being re-released on the DS in November, I think that’s where our first non-EB design will focus. Anyone have a good idea for a CT shirt?
