Reformat the Planet

Chiptune documentary film
We’re proud to present a project that our friends at 2 Player Productions have been working on for years: the first edition DVD release of Reformat the Planet, a full-length documentary focused on the rise of the chiptune music scene. Our prolific designer Jon Kay has spent his summer designing the packaging, menus, and a slew of supporting merch, all of which we’re now offering for preorder!

We’re planning to start shipping this stuff towards the end of the month (which, incidentally, is right before we pack up to head to PAX Prime 2010) so get your order in soon!

Fangamer Podcast #33 – Fantasy RPG Genre chat

Ahh… back from vacation, a summer of leisure, we return to our normal podcast format. Our show topic this time around was the brain child of Liz. We discuss our theories on why the medieval fantasy realm is so prevalent in RPG’s and how we think it evolved and where it might be going. We aren’t video game biologists by any means but we do get into a fun bit about WCW wrestling and how we feel about  Sylvester Stallone and Demolition Man pinball.

As always send feedback to podcast(at)fangamer.com. Stick around after the jump for the full show notes and don’t forget to leave us a review on iTunes!

Fangamer Podcast #32 – MEGA Q AND A

Have you ever wondered what goes on in the Fangamer offices, or what it’s like to work for starmen.net, or how boring it is to be an operator on IRC? Well, if you have, you’re going to come away disappointed, because this special MEGA Q AND A podcast answers none of those questions. However, if you’ve ever wondered just how many fans Radiation has, whether half the staff wants to be Falcon24 when they grow up, or how Macho Man Randy Savage paid tribute to the late Curt Hennig, AKA Mr. Perfect, then this podcast is probably more your style.

To make a long story short – too late! – about fifty Fangamer staffers and Fangamer fans got together last week in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and had ourselves a good time biking, hiking, and buying chotchkies. We also took time out to admire the Knoxville Sunsphere, a shining beacon of hope that’s been casting a depressing, neglected shadow over the city since the 1982 World’s Fair.

Shockingly enough, we also did a little work, in the form of a massive Q and A podcast. We took questions via the forums, twitter, the blog, and email to compile a massive list of things people have wanted to know (or felt like asking without caring about the answer). In the spirit of giving, we Fangamerinos did our darndest to answer all of them to the best of our ability. Are you interested in listening to it? Cool beans, it’s right here!

Podcast Delay!

Hey folks, you may or may not have known but basically the entire Fangamer crew (minus yours truly) and most of the Starmen.net staff are all on vacation this week… together! They are having fun in the sun, sipping gin and juice (see: blue drank), or whatever the kids do these days, so producing a podcast like we normally do is not happening this week so please accept our apologies if you were waiting with bated breath since Wednesday.

In return I offer two things (3 things but the last one kind of sucks).

Fangamer MEGA PODCAST Q AND A!

Fangamer’s adorable little sister site, Starmen.net, has been known throughout the ages for its annual summer convention, in which dozens of goofy dorks (that’s us!) hold a big old fashioned hootenanny somewhere in the continental United States. This year is the biggest yet, with a whopping 50+ people packing their iMacs up in their Conestoga iWagons to make the trek! In celebration of this monumental occasion, we’re doing a MEGA Q AND A podcast, in which you can ask any questions you want of the staffs of Starmen.net, Radio PSI, and of course, Fangamer.

You can ask questions through the blog, on Twitter, on Facebook, or the Fangamer forums; no matter where they come from, we’ll be sure to get them answered. Questions for both individuals and entire groups are encouraged, and the goofier the question, the more we welcome it. Think of it like Officecam Q and A, but with almost half a gross of people! You know, because people are often measured like eggs.

Anyway, you should definitely ask us questions here, and if you want to see sample questions, check out the forum thread on Fangamer’s forums for some exotic examples!
