Awesome Article & Fangamer Sightings

The good folks over at 1Up just did an awesome article about fan art. Our very own Marty “Omnitarian” Elmer has a few words of wisdom on the subject. It’s very much worth a read and you should check it out during your next break from the ongoing Chrono Trigger Fanfest.

Actually, now would be a good time to mention that we’ve added a new Sightings page. It sorely needs links, so if you’ve seen Fangamer being covered by some awesome site or blog, please let us know!

Fangamer Podcast #28: Movies and TV Shows Made From Games

In the ongoing quest to tie podcasts together thematically like a high school curriculum, we decided to piggyback this week’s topic off of last week’s discussion of games made from movies and tv shows. Shockingly, we flipped it on its head, and came up with Movies and TV Shows Made From Games! Creative, we know. Since this week was Gerrit’s turn to take a vacation, I recruited two podcast newcomers, SLing (as played by Aaron) and Cool Dr. Money (as played by Bill Eager). Cool Dr. Money in particular was quite the guest, as I was surprised to learn he was, in fact, British.

Fangamer Podcast #27: Can a Franchise based game be any good?

After last weeks “Worst Game’s You Love!” podcast we came to the question, are any games based off movies, cartoons, tv, comics, etc any good or have they all been doomed to suckage? You guys answered in mass bringing up a lot of good commentary and stirred up some nostalgic memories of our youth. Liz is out of town for this episode so I recruited podcast all-stars DJ Katon (Ben) and the man with the golden gun Casey Toner for a Brodeo episode of the Fangamer Podcast!

TSG Video, Chrono Trigger Fanfest!

IT’S OVER! We donated $9,021 to ACT Today thanks to the insane efforts of The Speed Gamers. There are no more words, only shirts. Good work, that’s some great community~

As promised, we’ve got a video into which Steve has poured the requisite amount of time, blood, sweat, tears, and fireballs:

Our second promise has come to fruition as well: we’re proud to announce our first-ever revamped fan event, the Chrono Trigger Fanfest!

In one week we’ll begin playing through Chrono Trigger as a community, with a different Fangamer community member hosting every gameplay point live. Best of all, we’ll be taking preorders for our next wave of CT-inspired merchandise — it’s gonna be a good time. More details next week!

(Also, please note that you can now order a misprinted Pipe Vault shirt at a $3 discount. Enjoy!)

Fangamer Podcast #26: The Worst Games You Love

Ah, another podcast, as refreshing as the summer breeze across the faces of big nosed children. But seriously, we’ve got a mighty good podcast for you this week. Gerritt, Brian and I got together and held a summit to discuss the worst games we love, games that were objectively terrible, but for whatever reason, we’ll never stop loving them. I chose this podcast in particular to highlight the symphonic tones of my favorite terrible game, Virtual Bart, in part because it’s nostalgic for me, and in part because who’s going to get mad at someone using the music from the worst game in the world? I hope you enjoy the theme of a pork factory as much as I did.
