The problem is, I don’t have much to publicly show. I did a lot of Rails reprogramming to enable security on a lower level. That way, it checks for permissions in the model instead of in the controller. I have a few qualms with the find() lookup, but it works and I’m not going to complain. It’s ugly and not very Ruby-esque, but it gets the job done. The update, create, and delete are very clean though. I can see why people really love Ruby!

And when home = Kokomo, IN, that means sporadic dial-up internet access! In addition to that, I had to leave my laptop behind at the Apple Store in Tucson since it was having some power/screen issues. Anyone want to buy a 1st gen Macbook with a new screen/topcase?
Anyway, since my laptop is in the shop, no banner updates today, and not a lot else to say except some random updates…

After a very long week of writing, designing, and revising, I’m finally ready to open up Fangamer’s official call for developers:

No banners for this update, I gotta get some sleep! I’ll be posting another update on Tuesday with a bunch of banners and some of the latest stuff that’s been happening.

But that gives me time to work on designing and organizing, so that’s ok. Speaking of which, there’s an awesome puppy contest going on which will lead into an even more awesome contest — on Saturday I’m going to be launching a simple challenge/contest for any prospective developers who are interested in working on Fangamer. More on that after the jump, but first, some more excellent banners:

It’s been a busy non-Fangamer-related week, hopefully one of my last; been finishing up prior obligations and doing lots of thinking/organizing in my head. I’ve got some information about my goals/plans for this coming week, choosing between Ruby and PHP, and collaborating on a Fangamer logo, but first a preview of some of the excellent banners that have been sent in:

Hello and enchanté! A lot of you know me as ROFISH on the boards. While Reid is in charge of user interfaces, website designs and Photoshop gobbledygook, I’m the technical head of Fangamer. My job is to take Reid’s design and implement it, but I need your help! There’s a lot of small things that must be taken care of. If you’re interesting in coding for us, read after the jump!

I’ve gotten a lot of work done over the past few days, and finally hit a milestone — my first presentable mockup for the forum! I’ve got a full-sized preview after the jump, but first, a look at some of the awesome banners you guys have sent my way for the Banner Contest:
